Robert J. Egan
Robert Egan served as a Circuit Judge in Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit from 2008 to 2026. During his judicial tenure, he presided over a wide range of civil and criminal matters and served in multiple leadership roles, including assignments in civil, juvenile and criminal divisions.
Prior to joining the bench, Mr. Egan practiced for sixteen years as a civil trial attorney, evenly divided between plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury and insurance litigation. As a judge, Mr. Egan regularly presided over jury trials, dispositive motions, and complex settlement conferences. He handled a substantial volume of contested civil matters, including personal injury, insurance disputes, and other complex litigation. Mr. Egan understands the risks, costs, and uncertainties parties face when litigation proceeds toward trial and verdict.
Throughout his career, Mr. Egan has remained actively involved in legal education and professional development. He has served as an adjunct professor at Florida A&M University College of Law and Barry University School of Law and is a frequent lecturer for bar associations, legal organizations, judges, and court personnel. He also served on the Executive Committee of the Florida Conference of Circuit Judges.
Mr. Egan holds an AV Preeminent® peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell and is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Civil Mediator, Appellate Court Mediator, and County Court Mediator.
